The Beaufort and Burton fire departments were called to 1500 Sycamore Street at about 3 p.m., and the fire was under control in about 20 minutes, according to a Beaufort firefighter. The house was heavily damaged in the blaze.
Two adults and four children, ages 8 to 12, were provided with funds for temporary shelter and to replace food and clothing, Red Cross volunteer Anne Rakip said in a news release.
