Bluffton couple faces eviction over alleged zoning non-compliance

A Bluffton couple faces eviction after two complaints against a new gym backfired. Gill and Anna Fisher, owners of 1 Contemporary Design on Dr. Mellichamp Drive, have lived in their business for nine years. When Crossfit 843 opened about 30 feet from the home/business two months ago, they were rattled -- literally -- by the noise level and vibrations of gym-goers dropping medicine balls and free weights. They complained to the town and Bluffton Police Department twice, and after a brief investigation, it was determined that not only was the gym within noise ordinance levels, but the Fishers will have to find a new home -- their building is zoned as commercial, and the town has given the couple 30 days from Nov. 6 to move out.
