Men robbed at gunpoint near Simmons Cay

Two 20-year-old men were robbed at gunpoint near Simmons Cay Apartments in greater Bluffton at about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office news release.

The victims said they were sitting in a car in the parking lot off Simmonsville Road when two men armed with handguns approached each side, demanding they open the doors. The victims were pulled from the car and pushed to the ground at gunpoint but managed to escape unharmed, the release said.

When they returned, the robbers and their cellphones were gone.

The culprits were described as black males, ages 18 to 25, 5-foot-7 and 160 pounds. One wore a black hooded sweatshirt and black jogging pants. The other wore a gray skull cap, gray sweatshirt and khaki pants.
