A man on the prowl with a bow and arrow in Rose Hill Plantation was ticketed by S.C. Department of Natural Resources agents for hunting within 300 yards of a residence.
Rose Hill security officers discovered a tree stand, a feeder, a can of deer scent and the weapon Wednesday night. DNR agents checked again Thursday morning and found the man in the tree stand, DNR Sgt. Michael Paul Thomas said.
The man, who was cooperative with agents, could face a fine ranging from $110 to $470 in Magistrate Court, Thomas said. If found guilty, the offense of hunting too close to a home could also mean points on his hunting license.
The hunter had not made a kill when officers found him Thursday, Thomas said.
