Now that the election has been decided, and the vote of almost 50 percent of our country has shown how deeply divided we are politically, can Congress and the Obama administration start working together?
A good start would be to banish Super PACs, enact term limits on Congress and have both parties recognize that their posturing, gridlock, half-truths, not-too-subtle racial demeaning and adamant refusal to work together has worked wonderfully to help split us apart.
A good chunk of the past four years, and this past election season, has been an embarrassment to me as a patriotic, 71-year-old American. It's well past the time for our political "leaders" to start leading. Now, isn't that a novel idea?
