Retired Master Gunnery Sgt. Ernest Anderson, 90, hands the first slice of cake to Lance Cpl. Octavia Davis, 18, during the cake-cutting ceremony Wednesday at the All-Weather Training Facility at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island. During the observance commemorating the 237th birthday of the Marine Corps, the first slice of cake is given to the oldest Marine present, who in turn hands it to the youngest Marine. The Corps' birthday is Saturday.
