Bethea's work invaluable to Jasper port project

info@islandpacket.comNovember 5, 2012

Five years ago, as the governors of South Carolina and Georgia exchanged ties in a show of collaboration for a Jasper Ocean Terminal, a partnership to bring economic activity and jobs to the lower region of South Carolina was born.

Since that time, Bill Bethea has been an integral part of the planning for a bi-state Jasper port and served on the project office's board. His service on the board during the project's true infancy has been invaluable.

Bill's service to the state of South Carolina goes back even further. As a former chairman and member of the South Carolina State Ports Authority board in the 1990s, Bill guided the state's port system during a period of tremendous growth and prosperity.

In each of his endeavors, Bill has exhibited leadership and determination in the pursuit of improving the region and the state. Thank you, Bill, for all you have done in service of the people of South Carolina.
