Twenty Special Olympics athletes from Hilton Head Island and Bluffton competed in the S.C. Fall Games held Oct. 20 in Greenville.
The group turned in its best performance yet for Beaufort County tennis athletes, returning with 15 gold, six silver and five bronze medals.
In the individual skills event, Amani Todd and Arcadio Torres won gold medals, while Rodrigo Canada won silver and Eric Perez won a fourth-place ribbon.
Taylor Taber, Kayanna Simmons and Rochelle Watkins won gold; Taylor Graham took silver and Tyrisha Young won a bronze in their short court singles matches.
In the afternoon matches, Watkins and Simmons earned gold medals in short court doubles, and Graham and Young won a bronze.
They performed well in regular match play competition. In singles, gold medals went to Wallace Gamble, Steve Cole, Chris McPherson. Robert Seignious, Rashawn Young and Suzzanne Darveau won silver. Meghan Witherly and Jacob Mazzeo got bronze.
In doubles, the teams of Gamble and Rashawn Young, and Cole and McPheerson won gold. Seignious and Mazzeo won silver, and Witherly and Darveau took bronze.
