Pro-education voters need to get to the polls

Published: November 4, 2012

Education can't afford another election with only 50 percent turnout for teachers.

Did you know that in 2006 only 50 percent of the certified teachers in South Carolina voted? South Carolina had 68,000 certified teachers in 2006 with 34,000 teachers not participating in the election (including those not registered and 14,000 registered but not voting).

Do you want :

  • Unfair pay-for-performance plans for teachers?

  • Increased class sizes?

  • Public education funded at 2000 levels?

  • If your answer is "no," make your voice heard by supporting pro-public education candidates. I encourage the entire Beaufort community to secure a better economic future for our kids by participating in the Nov. 6 election. Your participation will mean a better economic future for our community, our state and our nation.
