Grand opening planned for new St. Helena Library

A grand opening to celebrate the new St. Helena Branch Library is planned for 10 a.m. Thursday.

Speakers will include Beaufort County Council Vice Chairman Paul Sommerville, Councilman Bill McBride, Vernita Dore from the USDA and John Smalls from the Penn Center. Singers from both St. Helena Elementary and Lady's Island Elementary will perform.

Attendees can tour the $11.1 million library and sample Lowcountry shrimp gumbo. The library is at 6355 Jonathan Francis Sr. Road on the Penn Center campus.
