Beaufort police are searching for two suspects who approached a couple walking on Craven Street from behind Tuesday evening, knocked the woman to the ground and stole her purse, according to a department news release.
The incident occurred at about 8:30 p.m., the release said.
The woman tried to hang on to the purse, but the strap broke and the suspects ran away with it, according to the release. The suspects had hoods covering their faces, and the victims couldn't provide a detailed description.
Police dogs searched the area, but no suspects were found, according to Chief Matt Clancy.
