Bluffton's girls golf team tees off at 8:30 this morning in the first round of the Class 4-A girls state championship at the Country Club of Lexington, while Hilton Head Island hosts Airport in the second round of the Class 3-A Lower State volleyball playoffs.
The Seahawks already have eliminated Midland Valley (3-0) and Socastee (3-1). A win over Airport would put Hilton Head Island in the Lower State final.
The Bobcats (45-3) enter the state golf tournament having won the Region 8-AAAA crown earlier this month behind Brandi Hammonds and Kasidy Beckel and finishing second last week in the Lower State tournament in Myrtle Beach behind Kylie Nizolek's 73.
The second round is Tuesday.
Also on Tuesday, Hilton Head Island's journey through the Class 3-A girls tennis playoffs continues when the five-time defending champion Seahawks host Berkeley at 4 p.m.
The Seahawks (16-2) downed Gilbert, 6-0, on Thursday in their playoff opener. They have defeated their second-round opponent, Berkeley, twice this season.
