Patrick Henry 44, Beaufort Academy 14

The Beaufort Academy Eagles concluded a tough 1-9 season with a 44-14 loss Friday at Patrick Henry Academy.

"We had no misconceptions going into it what it was going to be like," Eagles coach Wheatley Alford said. "It was a rebuilding year, and I think we made progress. We are going to be a team in the hunt in the coming years."

Tucker Trask completed 7 of 12 passes for 116 yards and two touchdowns -- a 9-yarder to Reyn Robinson and a 14-yarder to Clay Melville.

Robinson finished with 71 yards rushing, while Melville had four catches for 64 yards and nine tackles on defense.

Gavin Palmer, an 8th-grader, tallied 102 yards on nine carries, and had 12 tackles on defense for the Eagles.

Senior Bryan Strawn saw his first career action in the backfield and gained 43 yards on three carries.

"We had nothing to lose," Alford said.

For Patrick Henry (7-4), converted fullback Paul Daniel DeLoach carried 20 times for 270 yards and four touchdowns to finish with 2,146 yards for the season.
