A 32-year-old maintenance employee at Laurel Hill Apartments has been charged with stealing jewelry and collectibles from residents.

Steven Jason Kuehner of Port Royal was arrested Thursday at the complex, according to police Investigator Andre Massey. Stolen items were found at local pawn shops and traced back to Kuehner, according to a news release from the Port Royal Police Department.

He was charged with three counts of felony second-degree burglary and remained in the Beaufort County Detention Center on Friday with bail set at $50,000.

More charges are likely, Massey said, since police still have unclaimed jewelry recovered from the pawn shops.
