Bluffton police arrested two men Wednesday on charges of stealing electronics, change and other items from more than 20 unlocked cars at The Farm at Buckwalter Place. A third suspect got away, police said.

Officers answered a call for suspicious activity at 5 a.m. at Gardners Circle and found three men dressed in black and carrying large bags loitering near parked vehicles. The men attempted to run, according to Lt. Joe Babkiewicz, and one escaped.

However, Stefan Damian Harris, 21, and Dontay Love Johnson, 20, both of Bluffton, were arrested after stolen items were found on them and in their bags, Babkiewicz said.

Reports of cars in the neighborhood being broken into overnight poured in throughout the day, he said.

Johnson is charged with 23 counts and Harris with 21 of breaking and entering a motor vehicle. Both are being held for prosecution, according to the Beaufort County Detention Center.

Babkiewicz said the identity of the third suspect is being investigated. Anyone with information can call Detective Henry Criss at 843-706-4516.
