Published: October 25, 2012

Brian A. Coffman, general manager and architect for Beaufort Engineering Services Inc., earned the Green Globes Professional certification. Coffman is one of four architects in South Carolina with the certification, according to a news release.

The credential was established to support sustainable building practices, with a focus on environmental assessment and rating systems for health care and commercial buildings.

Beaufort Engineering has been in business in the Lowcountry for 36 years and also has offices in Summerville, Fairhope, Ala., and Johnson City, Tenn.

Beaufort Engineering has also won a contract for the Community Resource and Referral Center at the New Orleans Veteran Affairs Medical Center. The project will include the restoration of a 25,000-square-foot space in the building that was flooded after Hurricane Katrina.
