Chick-fil-A Spirit Night is Thursday to benefit the fifth-grade spring field trip.
ENRICHMENT More than 120 third-grade students went on a field trip to Honey Horn Plantation on Hilton Head Island. Students learned about marsh life in Port Royal Sound. Following his placement in the regional orchestra auditions, ninth-grader Tiegue Brougham-Cook has been selected to play junior bass with the Lowcountry Region Orchestra in November. He also is invited to audition for the All-State Orchestra in February 2013.

ENRICHMENT Third- through sixth-graders recently went on a field trip to the University of South Carolina Salkahatchie campus in Allendale. The students are learning about ancient civilizations. They saw artifacts found at the site dating back 50,000 years.MICHAEL C. RILEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

Josie's Frozen Yogurt Spirit Night is 4-7 p.m. Wednesday in Bluffton. Josie's donates a portion of the profits to the school. The first-grade teachers will work during the evening.
HELPING HANDS The student council is sponsoring a "Holiday Food Drive" through Nov. 9. Bring canned or other nonperishable food items to the holiday box in each classroom. All food boxes will be distributed to families in need in Bluffton. The goal this year is 4,000 cans.SEA PINES MONTESSORI ACADEMY
