A Ridgeland man was charged with attempted murder Friday after he allegedly hit a man over the head with a beer bottle and stabbed him multiple times during a fight at a Jasper restaurant, according to the Ridgeland Police Department.
Officers were called to Jasper's Porch at 153 James L. Taylor Road at about 9 p.m. and found Shean Wayne Williams, 38, of Hardeeville, with stab wounds to the abdomen and cuts to the head. He was flown to Savannah's Memorial University Medical Center, according to a news release from department spokesman Cpl. Tim East.
Richard Kelvin Etheridge, 48, was arrested at the restaurant and charged with attempted murder and unlawful carrying of a weapon after witnesses said he hit Williams with a beer bottle and attacked him with a knife.
The release provided no other details about the incident and the Ridgeland Police Department did not return a phone message Saturday night.
Etheridge remained in the Jasper County Jail late Saturday while Williams was reportedin stable condition, the release said.
