James Island Christian 44, Beaufort Academy 16
Down by one score at the half Friday night, Beaufort Academy lost its composure in the second half and fell, 44-16, in SCISAA 8-man football.
Leading 16-8 at halftime, James Island Christian (3-5) broke it open by outscoring the Eagles 14-0 in the third quarter.
"We actually were pretty competitive for most of the way," Beaufort Academy coach Wheatley Alford said. "In the second half, we came apart. We had some fouls that gave them short-field opportunities. We didn't keep our composure. With all the frustations that have built up this year, I think the kids got all out of their emotion tonight.
"But they never quit, they played hard to the very end of the game," Alford added.
Tucker Trask was 10 of 19 passing for 119 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions for Beaufort Academy (1-8).
Reyn Robinson had 138 rushing yards on 20 carries and scored a two-point conversion. Charles Thompson also had a conversion run.
Clay Melville had four catches for 58 yards, Robinson had two receptions -- including a touchdown, and Xavier Westergard had the Eagles' other score, a 6-yard catch.
Melville led team with nine tackles, and eighth-grader Gavin Palmer added seven stops.
Beaufort Academy closes out its season at 7:30 p.m. Friday against Patrick Henry in Estill.
