Prep Roundup, Oct. 18: Hilton Head Prep runners 4th at region meet

SCISAA Region 3-AAA meet: Hilton Head Preps' boys and girls teams finished fourth at the SCISAA Region 3-AAA meet hosted by Pinewood Prep Wednesday at the Coastal Center in Ladson.

Jackson Henz was the top finisher for either team, placing ninth in the boys race with a time of 18:54. The other Hilton Head Prep runners were: John Sheehan (20:22), Ryan Henderson (20:24), Ryan Nimmer (20:30) and Keylan Hanna (20:40).

Porter-Gaud was the boys champion, while Pinewood Prep won the girls race.

Running for the girls were Abby Kandel (24:23), Grace Orie (24:37), Maren Czura (24:48), Foster Willey (25:14) and Adria Stevens 25:29

Next up for Hilton Head Prep is the state meet Oct. 27 at Heathwood Hall.


Wade Hampton 5, Battery Creek 1: Battery Creek lost to Wade Hampton to fall to 4-12. The Dolphins, who did not qualify for the playoffs, host Garrett Tech at 4:30 p.m. today to close their season.

Bluffton: The Bobcats wrapped up their regular season Tuesday night, defeating Ashley Ridge in their Region 8-AAAA finale by scores of 25-7 and 25-17, and then beating Hilton Head Prep in a non-region match, 25-11, 25-17, 25-14.

Mackenzie Cooler led the way with 23 kills, 22 assists and six kill-blocks. Jordan Franklin added 20 kills and 24 assists, and Morgan Delaplane had 14 digs and was 16 of 16 serving. Madison Cooler chipped in with nine kills and went 13 of 13 serving for the Bobcats (36-8-2 overall, 10-0 region).

Bluffton opens the Class 4-A playoffs at 6 p.m. Tuesday, hosting West Florence.
