A man arrested in Florida has been named as a suspect in the armed robbery last month of a jewelry store at Tanger Outlet Centers in greater Bluffton, according to a news release today from the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office.

Harold Dean Rogers, 46, of Pompano Beach, Fla., allegedly stole $100,000 worth of jewelry and cash Sept. 19 from Ultra Diamonds.

Rogers was identified after he was arrested Sept. 28 in Deerfield Beach, Fla., by the Broward County Sheriff’s Office on unrelated charges. At the time of his arrest, Rogers was using the alias “Nicholas Lunsford,” the release said.

Rogers has an extensive criminal history and is also wanted by authorities in Maryland and North Carolina for parole violations and additional armed robberies, according to the release.

Pending extradition, Rogers will face charges in Beaufort County for armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime, and grand larceny for the Ultra Diamond robbery. Local investigators are working with outside agencies to identify and recover stolen jewelry that may have been pawned in Florida pawn shops.
