The Foundation for Educational Excellence is seeking volunteers who are interested in furthering the foundation's mission to raise funds for innovative teacher grants. Art teacher Karen Beltz has been recognized by online children's art museum Artsonia for outstanding leadership in arts education at Bluffton Elementary School. The school's online art gallery ranked eighth in the state, according to Artsonia.

Bluffton High School JROTC will sponsor a community yard sale 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Bluffton High School, 12 H.E. McCracken Circle. Parking lot spaces are available for $25 or $40 for two. The JROTC Booster Club will sell hotdogs, hamburgers and baked goods. Proceeds from the sale will help pay for the Bluffton High JROTC unit's transportation to and participation in area and regional competitions and activities. The cast of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" hosted a canned food drive to support The Deep Well Project and its Sing Well for Deep Well event. The students collected 338 nonperishable items. Seventh-grader Julia Gigante brought in the most canned goods, earning a walk-on role in the musical. The 2012 Homecoming Court is: ninth-grader Annalise Saponara, 10th-graders Grace Orie and Iulia Gotsis, 11th-graders Forest Richardson, Marisa Wojcikiewicz and Tory Henrichs, 12th-graders Sabina Sister, Helen Cardamone, Halie Parker and Maggie Gasser.
