Hilton Head Christian faces Hammond on the road today as the Eagles (4-9) open the SCISAA Class 3-A girls tennis playoffs.

The winner of the Eagles' matchup with the Skyhawks (8-4) will advance to face Pinewood Prep. Hilton Head Christian and Hammond did not play this season, but they had a common opponent in Pinewood Prep.

For comparison's sake, the Eagles lost 6-2 on Sept. 29, while the Skyhawks lost twice by a score of 5-4. Hilton Head Christian is led by No. 1 singles player Hope Keane and No. 2 player Mary Catherine Carmody.

Unbeaten Hilton Head Prep, on the other side of the bracket, has a first-round bye. The Dolphins (10-0-1) will host the Cardinal Newman-Orangeburg Prep winner on Wednesday.

In the Class 2-A bracket, Beaufort Academy (5-9) has a first-round bye and will play at Holly Hill Academy on Wednesday.
