Bluffton 37, Ashley Ridge 20
After a low-scoring first half Friday night at Ashley Ridge, the Bluffton High School football team responded with a 30-point showing in the second half to stay undefeated with a 37-20 win over the Swamp Foxes.
The Bobcats (8-0 overall, 2-0 Region 8-AAAA) had success moving the ball in the first half, but bogged down with penalties and turnovers several times in the red zone. They finally broke through late in the second quarter on a broken play, when Marquis Webber ran for a touchdown on what was supposed to be a pass off a reverse.
Ashley Ridge (2-6, 1-1) stayed in the game with its wildcat offense, controlling the clock by running the ball, but Bluffton had some success running the ball as well. Junior Tykeem Major finished with 91 rushing yards and three touchdowns to lead the Bobcats.
Demetrius Smalls had seven catches for 124 yards, and Webber finished with six receptions for 98 yards. Quarterback C.J. Frazier was 14 of 25 passing for 200 yards. Gerald Roberson added a rushing touchdown for the Bobcats.
Bluffton faces another Region 8 foe next week, hosting Fort Dorchester at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
