The United Way of the Lowcountry has reached about 38 percent of its $2.8 million goal, having raised $1,053,184, according to a news release Thursday.

Contributions to the campaign help organizations like Ronald McDonald Care Mobile, which provides health and dental care to needy families in Beaufort and Jasper counties.

A $100 contribution to United Way of the Lowcountry provides X-rays for three children in the Care Mobile, the release said.
