Dr. Robert A. Laughlin, a Hilton Head plastic surgeon who helped start the Gift of Life program, has been named this year's Four-Way Test Award recipient by the Rotary Club of Hilton Head Island.

Laughlin was a founding member of the program, which began in 1978, and treats children disfigured by fire, explosions, birth abnormalities or other injuries.

"Gathering other medical professionals around him, from surgeons to physical therapists, he has treated and given new life to children from all over the world with his skilled hands and loving heart," a Rotary club news release said.
