An armed robbery at a Lady's Island restaurant Monday triggered a lockdown at nearby Beaufort High School, according to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies were called at about 11:30 a.m. to the House of Tang 2 Chinese restaurant on Sea Island Parkway to reports of an armed robbery, according to a Sheriff's Office news release.

The employees said two unknown black men, one of whom was armed, walked into the business through an open back door. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and ran.

No injuries were reported.

The Sheriff's Office K-9 unit searched for the suspects but did not find them, the release said.

Both suspects were described as being between 20 and 25 years old, according to authorities.

One was about 6 feet tall and wore a red shirt and black pants. The other was about 5-foot-9 and wore dark clothing.

The incident prompted a modified lockdown at Beaufort High School, in which students are barred from walking the halls without an adult, according to school officials.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Beaufort County dispatch center at 843-524-2777.
