Nicolas R. Damico, son of Denise M. Damico of Ladson and Michael B. Damico of Bluffton, recently enlisted in the U.S. Navy under its delayed-entry program at Navy Recruiting District in Raleigh.
The program allows recruits to enter the Navy and take up to one year to complete prior commitments such as high school. With recruiters as mentors, this program helps recruits ease into the transition from civilian to military life.
Damico will report for active duty to undergo basic training at the Navy's Recruit Training Center in Great Lakes, Ill.
Damico is a 2012 graduate of R.B. Stall High School in North Charleston. Seaman Recruit Clarence M. Tuttle, son of Seretha M. Tuttle of Beaufort, has completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.
During the eight-week program, Tuttle completed a variety of training, including classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis also was placed on physical fitness.
Tuttle is a 2010 graduate of Beaufort High School. Navy Seaman Christopher C. Wetmore, son of Georgiana and Charles Wetmore of Hilton Head Island, has graduated with honors from Basic Electronics Technician School.
During the course at the Center for Surface Combat System Unit in Great Lakes, Ill., Wetmore received introductory instruction in electronic circuit concepts, radar principles and the basics of radio transmitters and receivers. Studies also include procedures for repairing amplifiers, transmitters, receivers, and power-supply lines.
Wetmore is a 2003 graduate of Newberry College. Army Pvt. Tyelure A. Moses has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson in Columbia.
During the nine weeks of training, Moses studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values and physical fitness. She also received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training.
Moses is the daughter of Sonia Evans of Tomball, Texas, and is a 2011 graduate of Bluffton High School.
