EVENTS

  • The next PTSO meeting is at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the school's media center. The SIC meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m.

  • Homecoming is Oct. 26. The football game will start at 7:30 p.m.

  • BEAUFORT ACADEMY

    EVENTS

  • Seniors are selling Spirit Strands from Tuesday to Thursday.

  • A flu vaccine clinic is 8-9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lowcountry Urgent Care, 182 Sea Island Parkway, Lady's Island.

  • A free community event for parents of pre-kindergarten students through fourth-graders will focus on nutrition. Jenny Craft from Beaufort Memorial Hospital will present at the Parents Academy 6:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at the school. Child care will be provided; reservations required. Details: M.J.   • Juniors will host a bake sale at the home football game at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

  • GOVERNOR'S SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS

    ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Rusty Godfrey, the school's social studies department chairman, was named Outstanding American History Teacher by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Godfrey received the award at the 121st Continental Congress in Washington, D.C., on June 30. The event was held in Constitution Hall at the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Headquarters. He traveled to Washington with his wife, his father and his two children. He was joined by Andrea Helfrich and Kim Schmucker from the Captain William Hilton Chapter, DAR. Godfrey, originally awarded Outstanding Teacher of American History of the Year by the Captain William Hilton Chapter DAR on Hilton Head Island, recently instructed six area students who attend the Governor's School. Godfrey went on to receive state recognition at the South Carolina State Conference on March 24 in Columbia.

  • HARDEEVILLE-RIDGELAND MIDDLE SCHOOL

    ACHIEVEMENTS

  • The following students have been selected to participate in the Treble Honors Chorus at University of South Carolina in Columbia on Saturday. The concert will take place at 2:30 p.m. at the USC School of Music in Columbia The concert is free and the public is invited to attend.   • The school's fall festival is 4-7 p.m. Oct. 25. Events include a sack race, cake walk, musical chairs, face painting and arts and crafts. Food will be served. Tickets are 50 cents, and everyone is invited.

  • The PTO will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the school cafeteria. The SIC meeting will follow at 6 p.m.

  • Chick-fil-A spirit night is 5:30-7:30 p.m. Oct. 18.

    ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Senior Ryan Day has been named a Commended Student in the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, will be presented by headmaster John Rogers to this talented senior.

  • REUNIONS/ALUMNI

  • The Beaufort High School Class of 1958 Tidal Wave Breakfast Club meetings are at 9 a.m. on the first Saturday of each month at Golden Corral, 122 Robert Smalls Parkway. Details: 843-525-1822, 843-524-8903
