Hilton Head Christian had to wonder if it was ever going to have a chance, after Colleton Prep used nearly the entire first quarter to score on a 60-yard drive, but the Eagles eventually got the football, and made the most of it.

Joseph Padgett scored on a 4-yard run near the end of the first quarter for Colleton Prep (4-4), leaving the Christian Academy only time to run one play before the quarter expired.

Once the second quarter began, the Eagles (6-1) took over. Tyler Chisholm scored on an 8-yard run to tie the game, and then he scored again on a 38-yard pass from Caleb Lewis to put the Eagles ahead 12-6 by halftime.

After a scoreless third quarter, Chisholm gave the Eagles all the breathing room they would need with a 52-yard scoring run. He also ran in the conversion for the final 14-point margin.

Chisholm finished with 83 rushing yards on seven carries. Lewis was 9 for 15 passing for 133 yards. CJ Evanofski had six catches for 48 yards.

Brad Meccariello led Hilton Head Christian's defense with eight tackles. Clay Oliver had seven tackles and two sacks, and Nick Pirozzi, Will McCutchen, Reese Dolyniuk and Hector Mendoza all had seven tackles. JD Reichel had an interception for the Eagles.

Hilton Head Christian plays a crucial region game Friday, hosting Thomas Heyward at 7 p.m.
