Charlotte Bellomy enjoyed playing with her sister, Chelsea, a former Beaufort High School No. 1 singles player now at Wake Forest.

But Charlotte Bellomy, a senior and the Eagles' third No. 1 singles player in as many seasons, recognizes her current role.

"It's nice, after being on the team for so long, to be No. 1," Bellomy said. "It's a lot of responsibility and pressure, but it's still fun."

Beaufort High is trying to maintain its region dominance on the tennis court. and halfway through the season, the Eagles are having their way, with the playoffs looming at the end of October. If all goes according to plan, Bellomy and the Eagles will enjoy home-court advantage early on.

Bellomy is still mulling her plans after high school but seems to favor Wake Forest, where her sister plays club tennis. But plenty of tennis remains during her senior season.

"We've done what we need to do with all the region teams, now it's just a matter of doing it again, focusing on playoffs," Bellomy said.

The Beaufort Gazette and Island Packet caught up with Bellomy before the Eagles hosted Summerville on Thursday and ran her through our Two-Minute Drill.
