Published: October 4, 2012

Coastal Carolina Medical Center in Hardeeville will honor one of its own nurses Thursday for going above and beyond for a homeless patient recently. The nurse will receive the award from the California-based DAISY Foundation for the compassion she showed for the homeless patient, washing his clothes and buying him a new backpack to replace his old, tattered satchel. The award is part of the DAISY Foundation's program to recognize the superhuman efforts nurses perform every day, according to a news release.
