Prep Roundup, Oct. 4: Battery Creek climbs in volleyball rankings

PrepCountry.com Coaches Volleyball Poll: Battery Creek is the biggest mover in the area in this week's PrepCountry.com Coaches Volleyball Poll. The Dolphins (11-6, 7-3 Region 6-AA) jumped from 10th to fifth in the Class 2-A poll.

Bluffton (27-6) remains tied for eighth in the Class 4-A poll, while Hilton Head Island remains sixth in the Class 3-A poll. In the Class 1-A poll, Whale Branch stayed at seventh.

Among independent schools, Thomas Heyward Academy (15-5, 5-2) remained seventh, while Beaufort Academy (3-9) is 10th.

    Hilton Head Prep: The Dolphins competed at the Highlander Invitational in Columbia.

    The girls team, led by Abbey Kandell's 37th-place finish, finished 12th of 20 teams. Heathwood Hall was the winner.

    On the boys side, Jackson Henz finished 32nd to help the Dolphins finish eighth of 14 teams. St. Joseph's won the boys race.

    Hilton Head Prep next runs on Wednesday, Oct. 17 in the SCISAA 3-A Regionals hosted by Pinewood Prep in Charleston.

    GIRLS GOLF

    Wilson Hall 208, Hilton Head Christian 219: Anna Leesman Eddy shot a 40 for the top round of the day, but the Eagles fell short at Santee National in their final match before next week's SCISAA state tournament.

    Jamie Hubbard carded a 53, Jordan Foster had a 61 and Daria Fulton shot a 65 for Hilton Head Christian (1-2).

    The SCISAA state tournament is Monday at Orangeburg Country Club.
