Man attacked in fight in 'good' condition

A man with severe cuts on his face from a fight Saturday in the parking lot of a Bluffton apartment complex was listed in "good condition" in a Savannah hospital Tuesday.

The 29-year-old man was taken to Memorial University Medical Center from Hilton Head Hospital after being hit in the face with a beer bottle by a 34-year-old acquaintance at Bluffton House Apartments on Simmonsville Road, according to authorities.

The Sheriff's Office had previously reported the man had been released from the hospital. It was unclear Wednesday why local authorities believed that was the case. No arrests have been made. Investigators are still trying to verify statements given by the men, all of whom were "grossly intoxicated," a Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said.
