The Beaufort County Board of Education has set a series of public forums and opened an online survey to help guide the school district's search for the next superintendent.
Eight public forums will occur next week. The survey is open now.
The forums and survey are designed to gather input from parents, students, teachers and community members about the personal and professional characteristics the new superintendent should possess.
On Oct. 10, four forums will be held:
At each forum, Ray and Associates -- the search firm hired by the school board -- will present an overview and timeline for the search, according to a news release from the district.
The board will replace Valerie Truesdale, who left the district for a job in North Carolina after five years as superintendent. Truesdale's last day was Sept. 28.
Acting superintendent Jackie Rosswurm, who has been the district's chief of human resources for five years, will serve until the new superintendent begins work, likely next summer.
