Bluffton Self Help thankful for Hargray Caring Coins

info@islandpacket.comOctober 1, 2012

Hargray Caring Coins Foundation, within the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, recently celebrated a milestone of giving $2 million dollars to local charities. Bluffton Self Help has been one of those charities to benefit from this outstanding program.

Caring Coins Foundation was established by Hargray in 2003 and provides support to local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations in Beaufort, Bluffton, Hardeeville and Hilton Head Island. Hargray Communications customers voluntarily round up their monthly bill, and the spare "change" collected is disbursed quarterly by an independent board of directors and the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry.

Bluffton Self Help will use these funds to further its mission to provide financial assistance to Bluffton neighbors in need of emergency financial assistance. Last year, we assisted more than 28,000 people with free, donated food, clothing and financial assistance for those in a crisis situation.

Thank you, Hargray customers, for helping us help our neighbors.
