The S.C. Highway Patrol is investigating a Saturday crash on Lady's Island that killed a 65-year-old Beaufort man.

Lloyd Harold Hubbell of Beaufort was driving a 2008 Yamaha motorcyclist west on Brickyard Point Road at about 5:25 p.m. when a 2004 Jeep driven by a 45-year-old Beaufort woman turned in front of him, Lance Cpl. Brant Kelly, S.C. Highway Patrol spokesman, said.

Hubbell's motoryclist struck the SUV near the intersection of Brickyard Point Road and Pleasant Point Drive, Kelly said. He was not wearing a helmet, Kelly said.

Hubbell was transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital and then flown to Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah, where he was pronounced dead at about 6:45 p.m. from head and chest trauma, Beaufort County Deputy Coroner David Ott said.

The driver of the Jeep was not injured but a passenger in her vehicle was taken to Beaufort Memorial Hospital with minor injuries, according to officials.

Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash, Kelly said.

No charges had been filed against the driver of the Jeep as of Sunday, according to county records.
