GOOSE CREEK -- The machine that is Goose Creek High School football was clicking on all cylinders Friday night, and the visiting Beaufort Eagles felt the wrath.
Goose Creek scored on offense, defense and special teams en route to a 30-0 lead in the first quarter. The Gators coasted from there, claiming a 65-14 victory to improve to 6-0.
The Gators scored on their first offensive play, a 79-yard run by Caleb Kinlaw, and the rout was on. Goose Creek led 51-0 at halftime and finished the night with 470 yards in total offense.
"It's real hard to find fault with anything we did in the first half," Goose Creek coach Chuck Reedy said. "I thought we came out with good focus and we were really sharp early on. I can't complain. We played about as well we could play in the first half."
Kinlaw finished with 137 yards rushing while fullback Rashard Alston added 105 yards. Junior quarterback Dantez Bennamon rushed for 48 yards and completed all five pass attempts for 58 yards, all in the first half.
"Caleb was really sharp and that first run was a big lift for us," said Reedy. "I thought Dantez had his most complete game of the season so far. His reads were good and he threw the ball extremely well."
After Kinlaw's touchdown run, Goose Creek tacked on a safety with a tackle in the end zone on a high punt snap. Alston scored on a 5-yard run with 4:05 left in the opening quarter.
The defense, which allowed more than 400 yards in a win over Dutch Fork last week, scored twice in the opening frame. Defensive lineman Gerald Turner returned a fumble 20 yards for a score with 3:50 left in the quarter, and Omar McCray returned an interception 28 yards for a touchdown 45 seconds later.
Bennamon added a pair of second-quarter touchdown runs and Rico Blanding scored on a 21-yard run in the second quarter.
Goose Creek had 315 yards at the half while Beaufort (3-3) managed 46 yards on 26 plays. Beaufort had only 49 yards through three quarters but scored twice in the final period, on 3-yard runs by Javon Dudley and JaClay Mixon.
