  • Hampton Lake in Bluffton will hold an open house event from 1 to 4 p.m. today at the community's models and available homes.

  • The community also will hold a grand opening for its model park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 6 and 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 7. Three new designer showcase homes will be open to tour, school booster clubs will sell treats and prizes will be given away from Station 300, Hampton Hall golf, The Cottage and other local businesses.   • Beaufort County Extension will be hosting a series of home canning workshops from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sept. 27, Oct. 11 and Oct. 18. The topics will be the basics of water bath and pressure canning, canning pickles and making jelly. The workshop will be held at the Clemson Extension Office 102 Industrial Village in Beaufort.   • Dodd Galbreath, founder, executive director, and assistant professor at the Institute for Sustainable Practice at Lipscomb University, will present a lecture and workshop on "Sustainability for Small Business" from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m Oct. 9 at the Bluffton library, 120 Palmetto Way. Experience Green is presenting the lecture and networking event as part of the Profit Green series. Registration (including a box lunch) is $49 through Sept. 30.
