High School Roundup, Sept. 25: Rebels sweep to volleyball win

Thomas Heyward 3, Hilton Head Christian 0: The Rebels swept the visitors 25-20, 25-20, 26-24.

Standouts for the hosts included Victoria Quick, who had nine kills and one ace; Taylor Ernestine, who had eight assists, four digs and one ace; and Chandler Cook, who recorded seven kills, two blocks, two aces and two assists. Also, Hailey Malphrus chipped in 10 assists and five digs. He 17-for-17 serving performace included five aces.

Now 11-5, the Rebels travel today to play St. Andrew's.

Hilton Head Christian (4-9) hosts Porter-Gaud today.

Tennis

Hilton Head Prep 4, Bluffton 1: The Dolphins swept the singles matches despite missing three starters due to injury.

Prep's Hannah Simpson recorded her first win with a 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (3) victory over Angie Castrillon at No. 5 singles.

Anna Rathke and Lauren Bierschenk scored a point for the Bobcats with the doubles win over Lizzie Rankin and Samantha Kriney.

The Dolphins (6-0) next play Beaufort Academy at 4 p.m. today at the Sea Pines Racquet Club.
