BATTERY CREEK HIGH SCHOOL

EVENTS

  • The school's Interact club is hosting a blood drive benefitting the Blood Alliance 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday. Students who are 16 or older may donate with a parent's note and photo ID. Details: 843-322-5582.

  • The next PTSO meeting is at 6 p.m. Oct. 9 in the school's media center. Congratulations to the following newly elected PTSO board: Melina Lee, president; Christy Jeter, vice-president; Ida Wiggs, secretary; Jennifer Slade and Michelle Morgan, ninth-grade parent representatives; Randy Caulder, 10th grade parent representative; Andrea Canaday and Clara Partridge, 11th grade parent representatives; and Stan Ganshow and Michelle Young, 12th grade parent representatives.

  • The next SIC meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 9 in the media center.

  • Homecoming is Oct. 26. The football game will start at 7:30 p.m.

  • HELPING HANDS

  • The PTSO is holding a communitywide fundraiser and selling gourmet cocoa, coffee and candles. The campaign ends Friday. Details: 843-322-5582.

  • OTHER

  • The Drama Club recently announced its officers: Christopher Petry, president; Zach Van Curen, vice president; Patricia Weigand, secretary; and Dominique Allen, treasurer.

  • The Gentlemen's Club recently elected its officers: Spencer Collins, president; Wendell Roberson Jr., vice president; Manny Gonzalez-Gonzalez, secretary; and Ra'Heem Cooper, treasurer.

  • The following students were elected to represent their grade levels in student government. Ninth grade: Landon Morgan, president; Christian Carter, vice president; Neelia Heath, secretary; and Jaylen Brown, treasurer. 10th grade: Zachary Scott, president; Shelly Houge, vice president; Cali Caulder, secretary; and Raven Chapman, treasurer. 11th grade: Aujena Mungin, president; Erik Barbosa, vice president; Kristen Haberkorn, secretary; and Fatima Watson, treasurer. 12th grade: Alexandra Bazemore, president; Nathaniel Cooper, vice president; Tina Kwok, secretary; and Kelsey Poole, treasurer.

  • BEAUFORT ACADEMY

    ENRICHMENT

  • On Thursday and Friday, Guy Davis will be on campus for musical instruction. The blues artist will work with students for two days before a 7:30 p.m. concert Saturday at the school. Tickets are $17, $12 for students and $7 for children under 12. Details: 843-379-2787.

  • The Parents Assocation fundraiser ends Friday.

  • Riverview's third annual Read-a-thon takes place this month. The school needs sponsers to support students in their reading through donations that will go towards books, new curriculum and the eighth-grade trip. The school also needs "mystery readers" who visit classrooms to share their favorite book Friday. Details: 843-379-0123

    ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Congratulations to the 13 St Peter's Catholic School students who participated in the Lt. Dan 5K. Three of the students came in first, second and third place.
