Prep roundup: Battery Creek's Crittendon player of the week

All-purpose star led Dolphins to first win

Battery Creek High School all-purpose player Yuneek Crittendon is the Island Packet/Beaufort Gazette Player of the Week Award winner for Week 4.

Crittendon had a rushing touchdown, a receiving touchdown, a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown and an interception on defense to lead the Dolphins to their first win of the season.

Hilton Head Christian's Brad Meccariello earned the fans' vote with 32 percent of the Facebook vote.

GIRLS TENNIS

Hilton Head Prep 5, Ashley Hall 4: Prep's Allie Burak gave the USTA No. 1-ranked 18-under player in South Carolina, Narni Summerall, all she could handle. After losing in singles, Burak and Kelly Dodd decided the match in the Dolphins' favor with their doubles win.

Hilton Head Prep (5-0, 4-0) plays Bluffton at 4 p.m. Monday at the Sea Pines Racquet Club.

GIRLS GOLF

Hilton Head Christian 139, Heathwood Hall 152: The Eagles won a best-three-scores match at Orangeburg Country Club.

The Eagles' Anna Lesemann Eddy shot 42 for medalist honors. Other Hilto Head Christian scores were: Jamie Hubbard 44, Jordan Foster 53, Zoe Zadoorian 59, Daria Fulton 59 Bethany Bunce 60 and Moll Lucci 61.

Hilton Head Christian faces Pinewood Prep Tuesday at Pineforest Country Club in Summerville.

VOLLEYBALL

Hilton Head Prep 3, Beaufort Academy 0: Halie Parker had six aces and 18 kills to lead the Dolphins (5-4) to a 25-10, 25-23, 25-19 win.

Brooke Churchich added 29 assists, while Taylor Kent had six kills and Megan Kelly had her first kill as a varsity player. The Dolphins host Northwood Academy at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Battery Creek: The Dolphins (9-2, 5-4) split two matches falling to Bishop England (25-5, 25-15) and beating Ridgeland-Hardeeville (25-17, 25-13).

Contributors for Battery Creek include Walicia Patterson (eight aces, two kills, three digs), Aujena Mungin (one ace and six kills), Sara Anderson (two aces, 10 kills and a dig), La'Schirrae Morrall (five kills), Tina Kwok (nine aces and four digs) and Tenilia Leak (four aces, two blocks, six kills).

The Dolphins play at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Wade Hampton.

Hilton Head: The Seahwaks (7-5, 2-0) won two matches, downing Hanahan 2-0 (25-10, 29-27) and beating St. Vincent's 2-1 (25-23, 17-25, 25-22)

Sierra Davis led the Seahawks with 23 kills , while Brantley Herrington had 13 kills and six blocks. Hannah Edelman added 11 kills, and Renee Homad tallied 50 assists for the night.

Bluffton 2, Ashley Ridge 0: Mackenzie Cooler's nine kills and 11 assists led the Bobcats (19-6, 3-0) to a 25-15, 25-14 win.

Jordan Franklin added nine kills and nine assists, while Abby Roulston had six kills for Bluffton, which plays at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Beaufort.

Middle School: St. Francis 2, Hilton Head Prep 1 (26-24, 24-26, 16-14)
