Two employees of Ultra Diamonds in Tanger Outlet Center 2 were held up at gunpoint Wednesday and forced into a back room by a man who made off with jewelry and cash.
According to a Beaufort County Sheriff's Office news release, a man called to ask about jewelry and said he'd come to the store. Just before the store closed at 9 p.m., a man walked in and said he wanted to buy a necklace.
Instead of paying, however, he pulled out a handgun and demanded several other pieces of jewelry from a display, as well as the contents of the cash register. After he forced the two women at gunpoint into a back room, he fled, leaving the employees unharmed, the release said.
The man is described as white, about 6-feet-4, 250 pounds with a distinct rash and severe acne on his chin. He was wearing a yellow-and-gray Polo tank top and several large diamond rings on each hand.
