A 24-year-old man found with a gunshot wound near the scene of a Hilton Head Island shooting last week has been charged with instigating the gun battle, according to the Beaufort County Sheriffs Office. And a man who returned fire has also been charged.
Investigators say Joshua Gongora shot into a Cordillo Courts apartment from the complexs parking lot.
Gongora was uncooperative with investigators when he was found at the nearby Springwood Villas with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the torso, said Sgt. Robin McIntosh.
A man who returned gunshots from the balcony of the Cordillo Courts apartment complex has also been charged. James Mimnaugh, 22, has been arrested with possession of a sawed-off shotgun, which he allegedly used to shoot back at Gongora, striking him.
