Beaufort police are looking for a man who robbed a downtown restaurant at gunpoint Saturday afternoon.

At about 12:30 p.m., officers were called to Emily's Restaurant on Port Republic Street, where employees said they were preparing to open when a man entered through an unlocked back door, according to a news release.

The employees said the man was armed with a handgun and demanded money. The employees handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, a cellphone and a bottle of vodka; the suspect then ran down West Street, the release said.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect was described as a white man of medium height with a slightly heavy build. He has long, dirty-blond hair and was clean shaven. He was wearing baggy blue jeans and a black T-shirt and was armed with a silver semi-automatic handgun.
