Thanks to all those who made Shakespeare Film Festival happen

Labor Day was the final night for Hilton Head Island's Shakespeare Film Festival at First Presbyterian Church. Total attendance over the seven films was slightly more than 1,000.

There was definitely a corps of stalwarts who didn't miss a single one, and there also was a strong crew of very appreciative folks who only missed one or two. Those numbers included a few teachers who had taught Shakespeare in high school or college.

We already are planning next summer's lineup of different Shakespeare films. There clearly seems to be a strong desire for at least one more run of this popular series. The Island Packet's coverage should get a lot of the credit for our success, especially Justin Paprocki's wonderful article in July that got things off to a strong start.

This also was a great experience for me. I have been a lifelong fan of Shakespeare's plays, and it has been a real personal joy to be able to share the film versions of some his best plays with our community.
