Literacy Volunteers of the Lowcountry thankful for Caring Coins

info@islandpacket.comSeptember 16, 2012

I want to publicly thank Hargray's Caring Coins Foundation for its recent grant to Literacy Volunteers of the Lowcountry.

We were especially pleased to be among the grant recipients on the occasion of the foundation's celebration of having awarded $2 million in grants to area nonprofit organizations since its inception.

With the ongoing help of the Caring Coins Foundation, Literacy Volunteers has equipped hundreds of area adults with the reading, writing, speaking and math skills they need to succeed in the family, the workplace and the community. In our program year just completed, 136 volunteer tutors helped 631 adults become more productive, self-sufficient members of our communities.

My thanks go not only to the Caring Coins Foundation, but also to the Hargray customers who, through rounding-up their monthly payments, give back so generously to our community.
