Hilton Head Prep football team's rally comes up short at Palmetto Christian

Palmetto Christian 46, Hilton Head Prep 32

A big second quarter for the home team put Hilton Head Prep in a 34-6 hole at halftime in Mount Pleasant, and the Dolphins' furious rally in the second half came up short.

Noah Sulek's halfback pass to Logan Clark put Hilton Head Prep (2-2) on the board first, but Palmetto Christian reeled off 34 unanswered points before halftime.

Prep quarterback Charlie Wilmot sprained his shoulder while being sacked in the third quarter and didn't come back in the game, but coach Kevin Wald said backup Tyler Fox, a freshman, played well.

Clark had a pair of receiving touchdowns, and Teron Daley had another score for Prep, which had a chance to make it a one-score game late but couldn't.

"I'm real proud of their effort," Wald said. "They never quit."

Hilton Head Prep hosts Northwood Academy at 5 p.m. Friday.
