Cathedral Academy 56, Beaufort Academy 14

Yet another strong start was derailed for the Beaufort Academy football team on Friday night, as they lost quarterback Gibson Achurch to a leg injury and watched Cathedral Academy pull away.

Achurch was injured in the middle of the second quarter and wasn't able to return. His status for the Eagles' next game is unknown.

Beaufort Academy (1-3 overall, 1-2 region) was tied with Cathedral at 14-all with just over three minutes to play in the first half when things fell apart. Cathedral went into halftime leading 30-14, and then scored 20 more points in the third quarter to break the game open.

Reyn Robinson had 20 carries for 129 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Beaufort Academy. Gavin Palmer added 43 rushing yards.

Palmer, an eighth-grader, had 10 tackles at linebacker. Robinson had a sack and blocked a kick.

The Eagles return home at 7:30 p.m. Friday to take on Charleston Collegiate.
