A Beaufort music store has moved out of incubator space at ARTworks into its own shop and changed its name.
Strings N' Things is now B-Sharp and operating at 6 Neil Road. The store is a partnership between Jen and Jeremy Hayden and Mike Ponder. It had a soft opening Monday and is planning a grand opening later. The owners said Friday that traffic at the store had been steady all week.
"We're a really friendly store," Ponder said. "If you come through the door and you aren't laughing, something is wrong."
Among other items, the store provides sheet music, lessons, repairs, how-to videos, instruments, audio equipment, and Ponder said it can supply additional items if customers ask.
"We're trying to bring back a better quality of music store to Beaufort," Ponder said. Several large deliveries of products are expected soon, he said.
The store has an acoustic room, a drum and keyboard room, and an outdoor sound systems room, along with a repair shed behind the building.
Ponder, who is involved with the Boy Scouts because of his two young sons, said owners intend to open the parking lot for community events like Scouts activities and classic car shows.
